For as long as I can remember I have wanted to use my creativity ability to make a career for myself. I just never really knew how to do that...
Although I have not fully accomplished that...I am on the track and headed that direction. Becoming an Interior Designer is going to make the phrase "when you love what you do, you never truly "work" a day in your life" become a reality for me. Since I have transferred to UGA and become a part of their ID program, I have never been more excited about my future.
I use to stress my parents to no end with school because I never knew where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do. I went off to college freshman year, to College of Coastal Georgia, to study criminal justice.... lol. (what a 180 major change I KNOW, people always laugh at that part.) Well I got there and quickly decided that was a BIG FAT NO for me and I started taking some art classes there. It wasn't until then, that I even remembered that Interior Design was a major. (This was my dad's major so, dumb on my part.)
That being said, I have always admired the kind of work my dad has done and the things he has accomplished...including the house I am sitting in right now as I write this blog. Telling people that my dad built the house we live in, was my favorite fact to share when I brought people over and they starting talking about the house. So Interior Design and Architecture have been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was little I use to think I wanted to do what my dad does but then my brother, being the best big brother that he is, would make fun of me saying that I just wanted to have it easy and take after dad. (Meanwhile that was his fall back plan if his genius brain didn't get him into Physical Therapy school..soo HA.)
PS. He got in because he is the smartest human I have ever met.
So anyways, I threw that idea away because my brother was just SO encouraging about it...and never even considered it again until college.
It was the art classes I took at Coastal, and some research about all the possible art majors out there, combined with HGTV that I decided to go for it.

By HGTV I mean, Fixer Upper.
Fixer Upper is a glorified version of Interior Design, because its a TV show, it is not all reality and I understand that. But Chip and Joanna Gaines through the midst of all this fame seem to be two of the most down-to-earth, genuine people ever. They released a book a while ago called "The Magnolia Story"...after reading about their lives, their story, and the struggles they went through to get to where they are. I admire them and their show SO much more. My wildest goal, and furtherest dream in life is to become Joanna Gaines and to have my work shown on HGTV....crazy I know. Seeing as how that will probably never happen...if I can at least just bring a smile to people's faces by providing them with their dream home like Fixer Upper does, then I will have all the success I need.
I highly encourage you to get their book and read it; hear their story and see how they built this life for themselves.
